Apply for Certification

1. A completed, signed and dated Certification Application Form.
2. A letter/resume which you prepare to summarize your background and your years of practical experience, specifically your investigative experience such as fraud auditing, forensic & investigative accounting, fraud investigations, commercial crime, law enforcement, etc.
3. Proof of experience and education
   • A completed ISN Supplementary Information Form – Education
   • Copies of educational and professional certificates, diplomas, etc
   • A completed ISN Supplementary Information Form – Employment
   • Proof of experience are letters from unrelated third parties attesting to the years of investigative experience obtained. Letters should specify the types of forensic investigative experience encompassing a description of the work performed.
4. Including the work related references above, a total of three letters of reference which vouch for your experience, character and integrity. Personal references must be unrelated to you and have known you for at least 3 years.
5. A current photograph of yourself (head and shoulders).
6. A copy (front and back) of one piece of Photo ID (Government Issued)
7. A completed copy of ISN Master Consent Form allowing them to verify your references, your experience and your education/professional accreditation on our behalf.

Pay the Certification Application Fee. There may be additional fees related to verification reference outside of Canada

Upon receipt of your Application Fee and your Application Documents, the verification process will begin. The time taken for verification of the points related to your education and experience varies considerably. It is our expectation that this process would take less than one month depending on the complexity and completeness of your application.

Upon approval of the Admissions Committee, you will receive a formal letter and certificate by mail confirming your accreditation with the ACFI. The letter will confirm your responsibility to abide the “ACFI Code of Professional Ethics & Conduct”,  the “ACFI Standards” and the requirements for “Continuing Professional Development” (CPD). It will also indicate the numbers of months required for the payment of the Pro-rated Membership Dues (difference between the affiliation and membership annual dues) for the balance of the year.

As an CFI/CFT, upon payment of your pro-rated annual fees, you are now eligible for a 50% discount on all ACFI Events and Resources, as well as complimentary updates to the ACFI Fraud Manual. You will be eligible to vote in all ACFI AGMs. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, you can proudly use the CFI or CFT designation and will be listed in our CFI/CFT Member Directory.
