Membership in the ACFI

 

The Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada (ACFI) members are professional fraud investigators who have by experience, education and examination satisfied the requirements of the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada (ACFI) and have been admitted as regular members of the Association.  They are valued for their integrity and expertise.

The Association of Certified Forensic Investigators (ACFI) has two main types of ACFI qualification:

CFI (Certified Forensic Investigator)
and
CFT (Certified Forensic Technician)

The Association enables the members and affiliates, through training and networking with a wide variety of the lawyers, accountants, investigators and law enforcement officers, the ability to stay current in the best practices in the evolving field of forensic investigation.

The Certified Forensic Investigator (CFI)

The CFI designation in Canada is a symbol of the highest standard of excellence in its field. Certified Forensic Investigators achieve this designation by experience, education and examination.

CFI members come from a wide variety of public and private sectors. While some may own and operate their own businesses providing services to the public, others may be employed by organizations.  CFIs may be:

      • accountants
      • forensic investigators
      • fraud examiners
      • human resource specialists
      • forensic and investigative accountants
      • law enforcement officers
      • lawyers
      • private investigators
      • risk managers
      • regulators
      • internal auditors
      • loss prevention professionals.

The services provided by a CFI relate to the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud. This may involve but is not limited to:

    • providing a thorough and complete investigation to sustain or refute allegations of impropriety and subsequently providing testimony related.
    • the audit of business systems to determine the adequacy of controls to detect, prevent and investigate fraud.
    • providing fraud related training to educational facilities, government and businesses.

The Certified Forensic Technician (CFT)

The CFT designation in Canada is a symbol of the highest standard of excellence in its field. Certified Forensic Technicians achieve this designation by education and examination.
