LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT PRESENTATION

One individual's contributions can have a profound impact on society. The Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada recognizes this through its lifetime achievement award. This award pays tribute to those who have devoted time, energy and their expertise to furthering the field of forensic investigations. It is presented periodically to outstanding individuals who have met at least one of the following criteria:

The individual has:

  • demonstrated dedication and/or inventiveness throughout his/her career;
  • made creative and/or significant contributions to the field of forensic investigations;
  • contributed to the growth of the profession
  • and is a Canadian citizen

This year the Board of Directors were presented with two individuals who met the above criteria: Stuart Douglas of Deloitte & Touche and Glen Harloff of LECG Canada.

Stu is one of the founders of the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada who, during his term of office with the ACFI, was instrumental in the design of the ACFI examination process and, as well, provided the Association with the underlying theme of our examination process.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975 and is currently a Partner of Deloitte & Touche. For over two decades he was engaged as a forensic and investigative accountant. He is the Inaugural Chair and is a current member of the CICA's Investigative and Forensic Accounting Interest Group; past Chair and current member of the CICA's Alliance for Excellence in Investigative and Forensic Accounting.

Glen, who served with the RCMP for over 20 years, is a Certified General Accountant and was until recently a Principal with LECG, specializing in Forensic Accounting & Investigations. He is one of the founders of the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada. and is currently with Kroll Caribbean.

A former member of the RCMP, Glen conducted white collar crime investigations both nationally and internationally and has effectively conducted fraud investigations in Canada, the US, Europe and the Caribbean, relating to such areas as secret commissions, money laundering, misappropriation of assets, broker fraud, insolvency, commodity trading and bank fraud.

During his term of office with the ACFI he was instrumental in the design and content of the ACFI examination process and has been working behind the scenes to advance the association with professional associations, as well as aiding the Conference Committee.
